Sunday July 5th
Yesterday we arrived to sv. Dobrotiva monastery. Then we were formed into four groups, and had some group activites. Today we played a game , during which we went to different places and we needed to complete different tasks about Saint Augustine. Later, the kids had an English exam and then we played a game called „pears“. 🙂
Monday July 7th
Today we had to think about what is True, what is false, what is easy and what is right. In these situations it was nice to have a team that can support each other. Today workshops started. After the workshops we went to play football and potato ball. At the end of this day we watched football world cup and celebrated the win of Spain.

Tuesday July 7th
We woke up, had breakfast, and went to school. We had a very interesting English class where we played a lot of games—for example, our task was to secretly steal a box from one of the players. We came back, and after lunch, we did some pottery making with ceramic clay. Then we went to play sports, namely potato ball and football, and we beat the other team 6:2. After that, we had a task where we had to get to a checkpoint and back to the monastery while tied together. This task was meant to help us bond.
It was a great day.

Wednesday July 8th
We woke up as usual today and then went to school to study English. While there, we wrote letters of gratitude to the group leaders and each of us created our own cafe. For lunch, we had risotto. During the afternoon, we cleaned the monastery, kicked a ball around, or played a little potato ball. For our afternoon snack, we got pizza and cookies. The evening program was fun because we played telephone. We ended the day in the church, where we lit candles and arranged them into the shape of a heart.

Thursday June 9th
Around one o’clock this morning, the camp leaders woke us up, telling us to get out of bed immediately. Nobody knew what was going on, and we only found out that it was a night game once we were out in the courtyard, after a very quick and unpleasant wake-up call. Our task was to go through specific locations in small groups carrying an unopened suitcase and complete the assigned missions. The tasks included finding a tennis ball at the bus stop (by the shelter) and taking a photo with it, finding a chocolate bar under a table at the Community Center (*Lidový dům*) and bringing it back whole, making a „human hamburger“ with our bodies and taking a photo like that in front of the Hamburg restaurant, and taking a photo next to a specific traffic sign—all of which we had to manage within 60 minutes.
Because of the night game, our morning wake-up call was later since everyone was exhausted—not until a quarter past eight. During lessons, the older students discussed the pacing of suspense in storytelling and wrote a story in the style of Greek/Roman myths and legends, while the younger students learned about clothing. During the third period, we joined together: the younger students „sold“ the older ones pieces of clothing they had drawn, and the older students read their stories to the younger ones. After school, lunch, and midday break, we had workshops and then played football/potato ball. After sports, we had dinner followed by the evening program, where each team represented a monastery. We had to gather resources for our existence and survival (food, stone, and wood) and bring them to our monasteries, which showed us the importance of solidarity. After that, we had to perform a short skit to show how things worked in our monasteries. Finally, we were sent out in groups, one by one, into the dark parts of the monastery to look for clues.

Friday July 10th
This morning, we were woken up by shouting. Vandals had broken into the monastery and blocked all the doors. To get outside, we had to solve a puzzle. After breakfast, we went to school. In the afternoon, we took part in workshops, played sports, and had a water fight. In the evening, we watched the football match between Spain and Belgium.
Sobota July 11th
When we were woken up this morning, we found 7th letter from St. Augustine. Next, we headed to school for the very last day of the school year. Once school was over, we presented our philosophy projects, followed by lunch. During our afternoon quiet time, we had a chance to do some shopping. There was also a Holy Mass. After the rest period, we played sports and my team won, which meant we advanced to the finals! After the sports session, we went on a hunt for St. Augustine’s books. To wrap up the day, we played North vs. South until 12:30 AM before finally heading to bed.

Sunday July 12th
Good morning! were the very words that roused me from sleep today. Breakfast was absolutely splendid, and I was eagerly anticipating our excursion to the famous, nearby Valdek Castle.
Regrettably, owing to a slight indisposition, I was obliged to travel in the car with Betka. The journey was rather tedious, and it was a great pity that I wasn’t able to trek alongside my team. For our mid-morning snack, we were given „pizza“ aka a toast, and watermelon.
What followed was a guided tour of the castle, which I thoroughly enjoyed! The views from the top were simply brilliant, and I was particularly fascinated by the legend of Prince Oldřich. Following the tour, we rambled back through the woods and stumbled upon a reservoir where we went for a quick dip, it was smashing fun!
Later on, Father Juan gave us ice cream, which was absolutely scrumptious. I opted for sea buckthorn and vanilla, scrummy, scrummy Vitamin C! Afterwards, we made our way back through the forest, and I managed the entire journey without a hitch.
For supper, we were served smoked pork with mash. This was followed by an evening game, after which we penned letters to our friends before finally turning in for the night.

Monday July 13th
Today, we woke up at 7:30 am, had breakfast and came to stop to wait for the bus. When we arrived to the Hořovice aquapark, we spend there about 2,5 hours,slide the waterslide multiple times(yes, even Juan😁) and had so much fun. Then, when we were on the bus, we met another camp that will be in our monastery, but they came one day earlier by mistake and asked us if they can be in here with us. Juan couldn’t let them in, but he let them stay in the school. When we finally arrived at the monastery, we had lunch and break. We could go to the shop to buy something. We also had a final sports in team, where Alipius and Gundisalvo played potatoball, Posidius and Jacob played football. Then we roasted sausages and rated the whole camp. And lastly, we had to pack our things and say goodnight.
We will see again next year at Summer School 2027!!
